Srinagar, June 17: A helpline has been set up to facilitate pilgrims undertaking the 48-day long annual yatra to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, commencing from July 2. An official spokesperson here today said Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), inaugurated a Control Room to serve as a Helpline for Yatris undertaking the pilgrimage. ''This Control Room is set up in the office of Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board,'' he said. Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board P K Tripathi informed that the Helpline will function from 0930 hrs to 1800 hrs on all weekdays from June 16 to 30. ''It shall function round the clock from July 1, 2016 onwards till the conclusion of the Yatra,'' he said. Meanwhile, Additional CEO, Jitendra K Singh, stated that any person seeking information or assistance with regard to the forthcoming yatra, can call 0194-2501679 or 0194-2501531 or e-mail [email protected] to make inquires about any matter relating to the Yatra arrangements. The CEO added that interested pilgrims can also gather Yatra related information through Shrine Board's website by logging onto www.shriamarnathjishrine.com and also send e-queries on-line through e-mail. Cautioning the intending Yatris against undertaking this ardous pilgrimage without securing a Yatra Permit, the CEO stressed that, for ensuring effective security arrangements along the difficult tracks, only those Yatris who are in possession of a Yatra Permit which is valid for a specified date and route will be allowed to proceed beyond the Base Camps, and across the Entry Gates at Domel and Chandanwari. The CEO appealed to all intending Yatris to complete the necessary formalities at earnest for Advance Registration and timely obtain a Yatra Permit in their own interest, so that they do not face any inconvenience on the date of their Yatra. Keeping in view the tough walk on the tracks, children below 13 years and elderly people above 75 years shall not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage, the CEO also advised intending Yatris to come well prepared with woollen clothes. The Governor directed the Additional CEO to ensure that all inquiries or complaints from the pilgrims are dealt with and answered on the same day, without any exception. |
