108 militants killed in 1 yr in JK

SRINAGAR, June 17: There seems to be no end to the militancy related incidents in the state with around 150 such incidents taking place during January 2015 and January 2016. More than 60 civilians and security forces personnel were killed in these incidents.
According to the figures made available by the Home Department, 146 militancy related incidents took place during the period of 15-1-2015 and 15-1-2016. In these militancy related incidents 22 civilians got killed while as 39 security forces personnel also laid down their lives while carrying out operations against the militants. One hundred and eight militants were killed in these incidents.
North Kashmir's Baramulla district recorded the highest number of militancy related incidents with the number being 28. Pulwama district in South Kashmir recorded 26 militancy related incidents closely followed by Kupwara in North Kashmir with 25 such incidents.
Shopian district in South Kashmir recorded 16 militancy related incidents while as in Srinagar, the summer capital of the state 15 militancy related incidents were recorded during the said period. Anantnag district in South Kashmir recorded 11 militancy related incidents while as eight militancy related incidents were recorded in Kulgam.
In the Poonch district of Jammu division five militancy related incidents took place while as Bandipora district in North Kashmir recorded four militancy related incidents took place. In Kathua and Udhampur districts two militancy related incidents each took place. Samba, Doda, Ramban and Budgam districts recorded one militancy related incident during the same period.
As far as civilian casualties are concerned, Baramulla accounted for highest number of killings at nine. Three civilians were killed in Pulwama while as two civilians each were killed in Kathua, Kupwara, Anantnag and Kulgam districts respectively. One civilian each was killed in Srinagar and Shopian districts respectively.
As far as casualties of security forces personnel are concerned, 13 security forces personnel were killed in Kupwara while as six forces personnel were killed in Baramulla. In Shopian district four security forces personnel lost their lives while as three security forces personnel each were killed in Kathua, Anantnag and Pulwama. Two security forces personnel each were killed in Udhampur, Bandipora and Kulgam districts while as one security forces personal was killed in Poonch district.
In the Kupwara district 37 militants were killed while as 18 militants were killed in Pulwama. In the Baramulla district 16 militants were killed by security forces personnel with nine militants getting killed in Shopian. In the Bandipora district seven militants were killed while as in Poonch district six militants were killed.
Four militants were killed in Kulgam while as three militants were killed in Anantnag. Two militants each were killed in Kathua, Samba and Doda districts. In Srinagar and Udhampur districts one militant each was killed.
The department said that 14 civilians and eight security forces personnel were killed, while as 62 civilians were injured in firing incidents from across the border at International Border and Line of Control (both in Jammu and Kashmir). In total 181 firing incidents took place at these places during the same period.
