BJP likely to start dialogue process with Hurriyat | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 17: Reports emanating from New Delhi suggest that the Narendra Modi Government may initiate dialogue process with all political groups, including the Hurriyat Conference in the spirit of "Insaaniyat, Kashmiriyat and Jamhooriyat" following the approach set by former Prime Minister and BJP veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Reports in this regard said: "To enlarge the constituency of peace and deepen its societal moorings, the coalition Government will take well considered political initiatives. It would follow the approach similar to the one initiated by Vajpayee and help initiate sustained and meaningful dialogue with all internal stake holders, which will include all political groups irrespective of their ideological views and predilections. This dialogue will seek to build broad based consensus on the resolution of all outstanding issues of Jammu and Kashmir". Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in the past himself said at several places, including at Katra, that his government was committed to tackling the issues facing Jammu and Kashmir by taking recourse to the Vajpayee doctrine of "Insaaniyat, Kashmiriyat and Jamhooriyat". What would be the result if Vajpayee doctrine of "Insaaniyat, Kashmiriyat and Jamhooriyat" was invoked and applied? It would mean many things. It would mean implementation of former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf's formula, which in turn would mean India-Pakistan joint control on Jammu and Kashmir, maximum self governance or maximum autonomy, demilitarization of the state, porous Line of Control and division of Jammu and Kashmir into seven zones. It would also mean dangerous respectability to the politics of separatism and communalism the Kashmiri separatists and other Kashmiri leaders have been indulging in to get the state segregated from India on the plea that Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority state and Pakistan is its natural choice. In addition, it would mean destruction of the minorities in the state who constitute no less than 40 per cent population in the state. Not only this, the implementation of the Vajpayee doctrine would also mean the enslavement of Jammu and Ladakh. But more than that, it would mean the negation of all that the nation and our Army and security forces did to maintain the unity and integrity of the country. It bears recalling that Vajpayee had almost decided to accept the Musharraf formula, but he couldn't move forward because the nation booted out of power the BJP-led NDA Government in May 2004. Had Vajpayee got the mandate in 2004, the BJP would have bartered Jammu and Kashmir. After the fall of Vajpayee government, the Congress-led UPA Government under Manmohan Singh also tried to move forward in this direction. Manmohan Singh and Pakistani former Foreign Minister publicly said that the deal on Jammu and Kashmir was only a "signature away" but it was the fall of General Pervez Musharraf that things remained where they were. Now, it is the Narendra Modi government which is thinking in terms of starting from where Manmohan Singh left. It is important to note that immediately after the formation of the Modi Government, Manmohan Singh had handed over all the confidential files concerning Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan to Narendra Modi. People of Jammu and Ladakh and other nationalist groups in the state must rise to the occasion and preempt the moves aimed at driving Jammu and Kashmir away from India. if they fail, their fate would be no different from that of the minorities in Pakistan. |
