Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 17: Congress candidate for Anantnag bye-election, Hilal Ahmed Shah, is roaming in different areas of Jammu to seek votes of Kashmiri Pandit migrants, who have been living in different areas of Jammu and outskirts. But, his party leadership has not shown any seriousness to fight the election where Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti is contesting as PDP candidate.
The non serious attitude being adopted by the Congress leadership to contest the elections has raised many eye-brows in the party. There is feeling among party workers that either party leadership has accepted defeat before polling or it is fix match to ensure smooth sailing for Mehbooba Mufti.
Credible sources in the Congress said that party candidate has repeatedly asked the high command as well as state unit to send some star campaigners to give imputes to his campaign but no seriousness has been shown by the leadership. Instead, party leadership has asked candidate to campaign himself and start door to door campaign.
Credible sources said that no tour programme of any senior leader has been fixed so far for Hilal Shah. Party has so far finalized a public rally of former cricket Mohammad Azhardudin on June 20. Hilal Shah has been demanding that some senior Muslim leader of the party should be sent to address rallies from him.
Meanwhile Hilal Ahmed Shah today met large number of Kashmiri Pandits, who have been living in different areas of Jammu in seek their support for the elections.
Shah made fervent appeal to the migrant voters putting in Jammu to vote for him, in order to strengthen the hands of secular forces in the State. He said that Congress party is committed to honourable and safe return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley. He further said that Congress has stood firmly with Kashmiri Pandit community and is very sensitive to the ordeal that they have gone to for the several years of migration. He went to add that the unholy alliance of PDP-BJP is against the wishes of the people of both the regions of the State. He again assured of the full support of Kashmiri Pandit community.
