| Jammu University VC replaces Director DDE for not following his 'diktats' | | | Raj Sandeep

Jammu, June 17: Sensing that that Director, Directorate of Distance Education is not going to oblige university administration to favour two teachers of DDE, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu has replaced the incumbent Director and has appointed a blue eyed teacher of Economics as Director DDE, sources told Early Times on Friday.
They said consequent upon gross irregularities committed by two teachers which were highlighted by a section of press, both these teachers approached their God fathers, who are at the helm of the affairs to save their skin.
The sources said that university authorities tried their best to prevail upon the incumbent Director DDE to give safe passage to both the teachers for committing official irregularity with one having obtained in writing three days casual leave and another marking her presence in the attendance register of PCP on these days in an effort to mislead the DDE.
Sources said the Director, who put in more than three years tenure has been an upright person and a man of integrity in the university and did his work with utmost dedication.
They alleged that soon after the incumbent Vice-Chancellor took over the reins of JU, he tried his best to hamper the smooth functioning of DDE ostensibly to dislodge the former Director from the chair. His undesirable moves were allegedly aimed at crippling the academic functioning of DDE on one or other pretext or the other transferring well experienced staff members gradually with replacement of inexperienced and inefficient staff at various levels, the sources alleged, adding that even the university authority did not provide the supporting contractual teachers as per the past practice to beef up the teaching faculty for teaching undergraduate distance students since last two academic sessions.
The sources said despite non-cooperation of university administration, the former Director carried out the working of DDE effectively and efficiently despite paucity of staff as most of them were deadwoods. He foiled all the ill designs of university administration which was looking for an opportunity to replace the Professor from Directorship.
The sources added the person who has been appointed as new Director DDE is a teacher of economics and he has reportedly not taken a single class since long time.
Rather due to his scant interest in teaching, he got himself shifted outside DDE for pretty long time and in between the economics course in DDE had to be closed by UGC in 2015 due to non preparation of study material of economics.
Sources said alleging that with the replacement of Director who was not a part of VC's coterie, but performed his work with diligence and capability, the VC has been able to gather all his blue eyed persons around him in the administrative hierarchy weeding out the last voice of dissent from the corridors of power.
The sources told the university authority has taken no action against both these delinquent teachers so far and now it would be easy for the administration to allow both of them to go scot free by using the new Director who, they say, can go to any extent to keep the university authorities in good humour.
