'Delay in construction of Rajbagh-Haria Chack Road'

Kathua, June 17: Resented over delay in construction of Rajbagh-Haria Chack Road, the local residents organized protest against authorities and blocked NH1A.A large number of people from 35 villages today jointly came on blocked Pathankot- Amritsar national highway (National Highway 1A) and protest against Public Work Department PWD and state government for delay in construction of the road.
The protesters were shouted slogan against PWD, District Administration and State government. The protest was led by Romi Andotra a social worker who had raised his voice several times in past but government gave deaf hear that triggers blockage of National Highway in Rajbagh Kathua.
Hundreds of vehicles were stranded in huge traffic jams on both side of the road wherein an Ambulance carrying a heart attack patients who was referred to Fortis Amritsar was also stranded in midst of the vehicles. Three hours long traffic hazards made the difficult block on the road and people who had to reach destination, cursed the negligence of the department and state government.
While addressing to protesters, Andotra said that the road that connects 35 villages, is filled with pits, lack of drainage system makes the life difficult resulting shortage of transport facilities even private vehicles can't be droved.
He added that Hundreds of people suffer everyday but when the matter highlighted before concerned authority and DDC Kathua they assured to construct the road within day, 2 years have been gone out but administration delay in construction of road that triggers protest demonstration including blockage of national highway.
Dinesh Sharma, a protester alleged on Kuldeep Raj MLA Hiranagar to ignore the sufferings of people as he never visited in the area and did not listened grievances of public who cry for road connectivity for more than a decade.
He appealed Chief Minister of J&K, PWD Minister and MLA Hiranagar to realize the sufferings of public and the road must be constructed on priority basis as people could not reach city for medical treatment or education.
SDPO Diwakar Singh rushed on the spot and tried to pacify the protesters by assuring to proceed with the matter to concerned authority and district Administration. After his assurance people allow to open the road.
