Rs 24,500 fine recovered from 16 erring traders by LMD

jammu, JUNE 17: Legal Metrology Department under the supervision of Deputy Controller Consumer Protection, VS Sambyal has conducted checking of different business establishments of Babliania, Airport rd, Gandhi Nagar and Rehal. According to press release, during the checking the Inspector LM Jammu (L) Mohammed Khateeb had detected sixteen traders violating the provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Weights and Measures (Enf.) Act 1997. The business establishments had been detected selling notebooks without marking number of pages contained in notebooks, use of unverified electronic weighing scales and overcharging of Kiryana items in comparison to the rates fixed by the govt. The booked traders felt guilty and requested for composition of offences booked, the Dy. Controller Consumer Protection compounded the cases for Rs. 24,500.
