Cross-LoC bus remains suspended for 3rd consecutive week 7/18/2016 11:01:53 PM Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 18: The Karvan-e-Aman Cross-Line of Control (LoC) bus remained suspended for the third consecutive week today in view of the unrest in the Kashmir valley, where 42 people were killed and more than 3500 others, half of them security personnel were injured since July 9. Official sources told that weekly bus service was again suspended due to prevailing security situation in the valley, where curfew and strike crippled life after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants in an encounter on July 8 in Kokernag area in south Kashmir. Due to security situation both the sides on the LoC agreed to suspend the bus service, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). The bus service could not operate on July 4 in view of the Eid-ul-Fitr while it was suspended on July 11 due to strike called by separatist organisations in protest against civilian killings during protests against the death of Burhan. The weekly bus service has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other since April 7, 2005 when India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects on "Travel Permit" instead of International Passport. POK residents, who had arrived here in earlier buses, also got struck in the valley due to cancellation of the bus service since July 4.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
