Early Times Report

Anantnag, July 18: Contrary to directions of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Officials and employees posted in South Kashmir particularly those handling essential services continue to enjoy holidays in cozy corridors.
Excluding Health Department, the overall civil administration is missing from the scene in South Kashmir. Reports said that various areas of Kulgam, Shopian , Pulwama and Anantnag district are facing acute shortage of drinking water, electricity and other essential commodities. Shortage is adversely affecting people.
In the absence of civic body employees and officials, Heaps of garbage has piled up along roads.
Sources said that those officials who have been allotted government accommodations at their respective districts and places of posting are also absent from their duties.
Although the CAPD department has started distrusting food grains in Anantnag town but in Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopain and rural areas of Anantnag the department hasn't moved an inch.
Highly placed sources informed Early Times that many officers and employees have moved to Jammu or out of state like elite families.
Pertinently, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had directed her council of Ministers, MLAs' MLCs and officials to reach to public and redress their problems.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Syed Aabid Rashid, who was spotted in various troubled areas during past week, has taken a tuff stand against the absentee officials and employees.
Sources informed that Deputy Commissioner has written to government dismiss an Executive Officer of a civic body for remaining absent.
"Secretary of the Municipal Committee was tasked to ensure proper sanitation by the Deputy Commissioner," Sources added. He was directed all the officers to remain present in their offices from tomorrow
Ironically, offices continued to remain locked in those areas that are hardly affected by the ongoing mayhem.
At Pahalgam, the office of Municipal Committee, Pahalgam Development Authority and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Officer and other offices including the office of Tehsildar continue to remain locked. However, a PDA official claimed Chief Executive Officer of Pahalgam Development Authority has gone to holy cave for reviewing the arrangements of ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
Like Pahlagam, the offices at tourist place Aharbal in Kulgam also continue to remain locked.
