Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 18: Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday said at POJK's capital Muzzaffarabad that his party had a clear stance against both Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and stated that he and his party were against friendship between these two Prime Ministers.
"Now you have to decide whether you will choose and strengthen these pro-Modi forces or support PPP to see a peaceful and developed Kashmir," he asked the audience while addressing an election rally at Muzzaffarabad. Bhutto, in fact, tried to tell his audience that both Prime Minister Modi and the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan were bad for Pakistan and that the friendship between the Indian Prime Minister and Pak Premier was neither in the interest of Pakistan nor in the interest of the people of POJK.
Bilawal Zardari also termed the Pakistan Muslim League of Mian Nawaz Sharif as "nakaam League and said it lacked ability, courage and wisdom. "PML, Nawaz, lack ability, courage and wisdom to run foreign policy - a policy where Kashmir issue gets priority, which gives Pakistan a prominent place in the comity of nations," he said, and added: "In fact the foreign policy is at its lowest ebb and the government has failed to achieve any of its targets in the past three years." He claimed that it was the PPP's "consistent protest against Indian despotism that had compelled Sharif to announce solidarity with the Kashmiris".
"Sharif had hardly spoken about Kashmir over the past three years and questioned: Can't he [PM] see the worst human rights violations in Kashmir, molestation of women, falling bodies and use of pellets forces…Sharif did not highlight the Kashmir issue or condemn atrocities on unarmed citizens perhaps because his friendship with Modi occupies the most significant place in his foreign policy instead of Kashmir," he further said in his desperate attempt to woo the POJK electorate.
Let Bilawal Bhutto say whatever he wants to say, but the fact is that it is basically the bleeding Indian nation which is vehemently opposed to any kind of truck with Pakistan and Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif. It believes, and rightly so, Mian Nawaz Sharif is not just powerless but also the most undependable Prime Minister, who under the garb of friendship with India hurts the Indian interests themselves by flirting with radical forces in Pakistan like the ones represented by Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed. It also says that Sharif is the only Prime Minister of Pakistan whose cabinet passed a number of anti-India resolutions, including its senseless resolve to observe July 20 as "black day" across Pakistan to express solidarity with the Kashmiri separatists.
There is hardly any strategic affairs expert in the country who favour dialogue between the Indian Prime Minister and Nawaz Sharif. On the contrary, they oppose the suggestion of Pakistani apologists like Congress leader Manishankar Aiyer and so on and advise the Modi Government to raise cost for Pakistan by adopting a pro-active foreign policy towards Pakistan.
Significantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself during his recent interview with Arnab Goswami of the Times Now told the interviewer that there were many actors in Pakistan and it was difficult to make a choice between them. In other words, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hinted that there was no use talking to Sharif. And on July 14 and July 16 the line that the Indian foreign office adopted at the United Nations General Assembly and in New Delhi was an indication that the possibility of talks between India and Pakistan was too remote. All this is because of the pressure from below: The nation is not in favour of engagement with Mian Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan.
