| NC lobby burning midnight-oil to strengthen roots | | Murky functioning of JU | |

Jammu, July 18: Despite losing power , the National Conference (NC) has been trying hard to consolidate the sinking ground in University of Jammu by getting their cohorts in primary positions and to bring the officials holding various important positions into party fold by hook or by crook.
Since its formation, NC which always put otherwise nationalist saffron organizations in bad light considering them as untouchable but its workers in University have been following same footsteps for personal benefits rather than for nationalist cause.
"Instead of strengthening its own student wing in JU, the NC chose to float an organization, whose name resembles party name and later on this student organization floated several other organizations for Women, for Jammu cause beside others", sources said, adding that instead of bringing students in their fold, all these organizations were of the habit of launching vicious campaign against those officials of JU, who refuse to toe their line.
This tactics of NC was so successful that the party managed to get appointed two of its functionaries in different departments of varsity and the main kingpin-who was self-styled student leader but actually a blackmailer-failed to achieve a post in University due to abrupt departure of their mentor (former VC).
Being frustrated by the developments, this self-styled leader firstly installed himself as President of Forum and then started pressurizing his cohorts to create position for his induction as Assistant Professor.
In the last few months, few officials of JU were targeted for not coming round their views and some officials in turn knelt down and are now helping the party to pursue its agenda in the campus, sources said, adding that during all meetings of decision making bodies of JU, some of the party functionaries and officials of VC's secretariat-loyal to NC-always put forward the agenda of party and tried their best to create position for their master but all in vain.
Officials alleged that following the introduction of semester system, the NC found it a conducive time to get their leader adjusted in JU and they gave the responsibility to the head-who enjoys bonhomie with NC-to do the needful. "Though head didn't take decision on its own and he called meeting of a committee in which very close friend of leader is a member but the committee refused to create position for NC's man, leaving the head red-faced and also the self proclaimed leader", sources said, adding that infuriated over the developments the NC leader started orchestrating plot to teach a lesson to rivals.
Sources further disclosed that few days back, JU had advertised several posts but the post for NC leader was not advertised, due to opposition from within varsity, leaving the leader in a condition like a fish without water as one of the close-aide was also removed from a top position in the meantime.
Varsity sources divulged that it was the failure of University administration that it has prohibited the entry of outsiders in the University but the NC leader has been enjoying free entry and has been holding meetings in the official chamber of one of the Assistant Professor and has been conspiring against rivals and some officials of JU have also been helping the leader and administration has turned deaf ear.
"Instead of initiating probe into the irregularities and appointments made by its predecessor to adjust blue-eyed of NC, the current administration of JU has adopted a criminal silence, which is intriguing", sources alleged. |
