Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 18: The government today ordered the transfer of Budgam SSP Fayaz Ahmad Lone for his alleged failure to keep the situation under control in the district. Some more district SSPs, additional SPs, DSPs and SHOs of several police stations across the valley were also likely to be shifted for completely losing grip over the situation that ultimately went out of the control of law enforcing agency. Fayaz, now shifted to SDRF's 1st Bn, has been replaced by Abdul Wahid Shah who earlier held a senior position in SDRF, according to police sources. Sources alleged that Lone, who also faced certain complaints against him, was transferred by the state home department. Shah, who since long had not got any significant posting, was posted as Budgam SSP on the recommendation of a PDP minister, sources said. Sources said the government was in the process of making an inventory of all the SSPs, additional SPs, DSPs and SHOs in the Valley who had completely failed to stop the situation from taking an ugly turn after the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani by security forces in an encounter a few days back. In their place, new officers would be posted, the sources added. Sources felt that had these officers acted on time with a greater responsibility, the situation would not have worsened in the valley.
