POONCH, July 18: Alleging misappropriation of funds in Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department, the residents of Poonch have demanded a probe and action against the guilty.
According to locals, some black moles within the department including some high chaired persons are having hands in gloves with the guilty and making the public welfare schemes viz. PM package, OPW, BADP sector, SDRF(Irrigation and Flood sector) confined to paper only while huge funds were shown spent on such schemes.
"The payments of some of the works too have been made, they alleged, adding, "works on Restoration of Dungas Bela, Chaktroo khul (water duct), Chandak khul, Saikloo khul and etc are shown operational but majority of such projects are defunct and non -operational despite department concerned has spent huge funds."
Accusing the authorities concerned to have adopted callous and lackadaisical approach, the locals further alleged that works like Restt of P/W at River Salotri, similar works at Kalai river, at Dingla river, at Dalera side too are under scanner as a whopping amount upto the tune of Rs 11.93 lakhs was withdrawn by the concerned but the things at ground zero are still undone.
Locals also alleged that the department in connivance with some influential contractors of Mendhar in clandestine manner has made payments for some works which even don't exist on the ground.
Alleging mass misappropriations of public funds, the locals have demanded probe in this regard so as to bring the truth to the limelight. |
