After Karan Singh, Subramaniam demands Governor's rule in J&K | State of uncertainty | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 5: Situation in Kashmir is grave. Jammu and Ladakh are also adversely impacted by the disturbing developments in the Valley, which has been in turmoil since July 8. The functioning of the government has been completely paralyzed. Hardly any one attends to his duties in Kashmir. The economic and developmental activities in Kashmir have come to a grinding halt. The Jammu business and tourism industry have also suffered huge losses. The common people have not been able to get their works done. It's all chaos and the separatists have been ruling the roost and issuing calendar after calendar and the police has failed to act against them. Hardly any one met with the All-Party Delegation and those who met with it spoke the language of separatists. The NC, the PDP, the Congress, the CPI(M) all spoke the same language; they demanded unconditional dialogue with Pakistan and Hurriyat. All told the delegation that Pakistan and Hurriyat were the stakeholders. None talked about Jammu and Ladakh; none talked about the refugees; and none talked about India and Indian interests. In fact, the visit of All-party Delegation to Kashmir turned out to be complete failure. Instead of furthering the national cause in Kashmir, its visit, in fact, only further damaged it. The manner in which Sitaram Yechury, D Raja, Sharad Yadav - members of the delegation - conducted themselves in Kashmir and the manner they were shown the door by Geelani, Mirwaiz and Yasin Malik only brought shame to India and gave respectability to these fanatics. Such is the situation. It's no wonder that some top leaders from the BJP and the Congress demanded imposition of Governor rule in the state. On Saturday, it was Congress leader Karan Singh, who demanded Governor rule, saying constitutional machinery in the state has broken down. And, on Sunday, BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Subramaniam Swamy said the same. Swamy went a step further. He said the alliance of the BJP with the PDP was not in the interest and that the formation of the PDP-BJP government in the state had turned out to be a bad experiment. Indeed, things have gone out of control and both the Central Government and the State Government have failed to rise to the occasion. Nation cannot afford such a situation in the state. The Government must act and act fast and retrieve the situation without losing a minute. |
