VC's 'ladla' challenges JU admin | Demolishes compound wall disapproved by committee | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 5: A professor of Jammu University who is considered a loyalist of theVice Chancellor has demolished the compound wall of his quarter for parking vehicle, violating the order of the varsity's building committee. Despite the demolition of the small portion of the compound wall, Vice Chancellorfailed to take action against the influential professor, sources said. However, the administration of the varsity claimed that the wall was not demolished but got damaged after a tipper collided with it. "If the wall was damaged due to collision with a tipper, why did the professor object to its construction", asked sources. Recently, the wall was constructed by the Jammu University but no action was initiated against the Professor. Copy of official documents in possession of Early Times reveal that the matter of demolishing the compound wall of the residential quarter of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia was recommended in the 4th meeting of the building committee held on March 16 in the office of the Vice Chancellor under Item no. 44. "To consider the demolition of small portion of compound wall of quarter allotted to Professor Avtar Singh Jasrotia to create access for parking of vehicle", reads that item. The committee in its decision clearly stated: "Resolved that the proposal, be not acceded to." But despite recommendations of the committee to not demolish the small portion of the wall, the influential professor allegedly got the wall demolished, and when it was being reconstructed, the professor obstructed. However, the wall was finally constructed some days ago and no action was initiated against the Prof Jasrotia just because he is believed to very close to the Vice Chancellor. |
