Groups opposing non-performing BJP ministers not allowed to meet delegation | All Party Delegation visit only to hoodwink nationalist people of Jammu | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 5: As part of cosmetic exercise the All Party Delegation, comprised 28 members of 23 political parties, visited Jammu just for two hours only to hoodwink the gullible but nationalist people of this region. Visit of All Party Delegation to Jammu was nothing but only eye-wash because organizers of the delegation were themselves not interested to involve Jammu region in the on-going exercise. It appears that meetings with All Party Delegation with various organizations of Jammu were fixed by the leaders of BJP because most of the groups, which are against BJP, were not given time to meet the All Party Delegation. What is more shocking some pro-Jammu political parties have approached to have audience with the visiting delegation but they were not given time. Even the prominent organisations of refugees including displaced Kashmiri Pandits were not properly invited because these orga-nisations, these days, are opposing style of functioning of BJP ministers in J&K. Earlier similar exercises were conducted but Jammu was given adequate time but this time Jammu region was ignored by the BJP led government. Although Home Minister Rajnath Singh disagreed with the view that the mission was a failure said the delegation had "very good interactions" with individuals and groups, people asking a question, will all party delegation's visit to J&K is going to serve any purpose. Similar exercises earlier had failed to serve the purpose because political parties across the country have failed to evolve a consensus on Kashmir. During 2010 Summer-unrest in Kashmir, a meeting of all parties was held in which valuable suggestions on and ways and means to resolve the vexed issues were given. It was only after this meeting, an all party delegation headed by the then Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, had visited Jammu and Kashmir respectively on September 20 and 21 and met all sections of the people and gathered all shades of opinion. It was told after the visit of high profile delegation that the feedback received from delegation would form an important input into the Government's evolving response on various issues relating to Jammu and Kashmir. But feed back of the delegation is still gathering dust. Similarly during the 2008 unrest, an 18-member all-party delegation headed by the then Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil had visited the State to review the situation following recent violent protests across the State. |
