Gandhi Nagar hospital denies medicine to patients | | | Vinod Sharma Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 5: The Ministry of Health provides various items, medicines and services free of cost to patients visiting government hospitals, but the staff of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar is asking patients to purchase even infusion sets from market. A patient informed Early Times that on last Saturday evening, he developed severe pain in his stomach and he went to the Gandhi Nagar hospital wherein the staff available in the emergency unit asked him to bring "Scalp Vein Infusion Set". When enquired from the staff whether it was available in medical supply or not, the staff replied that for the last two and half months, it was not available in the stock. When an official of administration was asked about the matter, he termed the item as outdated. "It is an outdated item, which is usually not used in present times because we have many alternatives to it", he said, adding that same was not required for the hospital. When contacted the Controller Stores, Dr. Kartar said that the supplies were provided by J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL). "We have not received any supply for the Gandhi Nagar hospital and it is Gandhi Nagar hospital or JKMSCL authorities who can comment on the matter", he said. Managing Director of JKMSCL Dr. Yashpal Sharma said that they have sufficient supply of "Scalp Vein Infusion Set" and if Gandhi Nagar hospital had any requirement, they could ask from the Corporation. |
