Machail Yatra concludes, 156538 pilgrims pay obeisance | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Kishtwar Sept 5: Annual Machail Yatra concluded peacefully with 156538 pilgrims visiting the Chandi Mata shrine at Machail situated at an altitude of over 13500 feet above the sea level. While talking to "Early Times" SSP Kishtwar intimated that Shri Machail Mata Yatra 2016, which started on 25th of July 2016 concluded peacefully adding that in order to ensure incident free yatra, 478 Police officers/men were deployed en-route from Thathri to Machail Mata Bhawan which included 02 coys of CRPF 52Bn., 100 Police personnel of SDRF 2nd Bn., 50 Police personnel from Crime branch Jammu, 20 Police person each from the District Doda and Ramban as well as local police from Kishtwar besides the area dominated by the Army. Apart from this, foolproof security arrangements were also ensured for Charri Mubarak (Holy mace) which witnessed heavy rush on its arrival in Kishtwar on 18th Sept 2016 towards Machail Bhawan and departure back on 25th September. During the 36 days long Yatra stint 156538 yatries paid obeisance to Machail Mata as compared to 147000 yatries last years. SSP Kishtwar further conveyed his gratitude to all forces heads, Zonal Officers, Sector Officers which extended utmost support and co-ordination in the run-up to the Shri Machail Mata Yatra. SSP Kishtwar further said that these two months witnessed heavy rush of various local yatras also, which too were conducted peacefully. He said that in one unfortunate incident of cloudburst, two sisters and a resident from Kuthua went missing after flash flood hit the area. Over 5000 pilgrims this year also visited the temple by availing chopper facility operated by the private airliner. |
