PHE daily wagers stage protest, call for Snapping water supply on Sept 15 9/6/2016 12:02:29 AM Jammu, Sept 5: Demanding regularisation of their services, hundreds of daily wage workers of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department under the banner of All J&K PHE, ITI Trained and CP Workers Association held protest outside Press Club Jammu and threatened snapping of water supply across the Jammu region on Sept 15. Raising slogans against state government and PHE Department, the protestors staged protest outside Press Club Jammu and demanded their regularization. "Many of us have been working as daily wage workers for past more than a decade, but despite assurances by successive state governments no step has been taken to regularise our services," said the protestors. Speaking on this occasion, Provincial President Tanveer Hussain said for the last many year association has been struggling to seek justice but except assurance practically nothing is being done by the state Govt with the result the workers of PHE Department has been facing acute problems. Threatening to intensify their stir, he said if our demands are not considered at earliest they will stop water supply across the Jammu region Sept 15 and added that near about 20,000 workers shall be participating in this mass stir to register their demands. They said the workers have been raising the demand for their regularisation for the past several months but the authorities did not pay heed. In his address Depak Gupta Vice President also alleged despite assurance given by Finance Minister and PHE Minister about resressal of their demands but till date no further action has been taken in this regard. Speakers also appealed PHE cadre top make the Pani band stir a big success.
