| Tractor mafia engaged in corrupt practice; officials involved | | |  Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, Sept 21: The tractor mafia is increasing day by day in Poonch district. The owners of tractor purchased the tractors for agricultural purposes only but apart from agriculture, the owners use their tractors for commercial purpose which is in the knowledge of the district administration.
It is pertinent to mention that the tractors are being used only for commercial purposes but no legal action under the relevant provisions of law is being taken by the distt administration till date with reasons better known to the concerned competent authorities.
It is seen in the morning times when the students going to school quite often come across the tractors loaded either with stones or sand running on the road displaying high-pitched music disturbing the public peace.
Due to the rush and negligent driving of the tractors,in the city, this year a large no of accidents took place in Poonch.
Bagh Hussain Rathore block president NC has urged the CM to look in to the matter and resolve the matter so that public peace be maintained. Mean while local residents of the Poonch told the reporter that they are appealing to Dy Commissioner Poonch to take action under law regarding the illegal commercial use of tractors. They also alleged a nexus of ARTO Poonch and traffic police with tractors owners. |
