Law student 'molested' in JU's unsafe campus | | | Early Times Report jammu, Sept 21: A female student of Jammu University's law school was allegedly molested Wednesday in the campus. The accused was later arrested. Sources said one Balvinder Singh, of Kathua trespassed in the campus and intercepted the law student when she was on the way to attend her class. "When the student resisted the advance of the trespasser he started molesting her", said a source in the university, adding that the trespasser punched the student when she raised alarm to save herself from his clutches. On receiving information about the incident, the security staff reached the spot and shifted the student, who was bleeding after receiving punches from the accused, to the health centre of the varsity. Later, the student was referred to Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar for further treatment. Meanwhile, police has registered a case under sections 314, 323 and 354 of RPC at Nehru Market police post and the accused has been arrested. Sources said it was not the first incident of its kind in the campus. Many similar incidents have taken place in the past wherein female students were targeted by outsiders and even by some faculty members. Recently, a female was molested and even roughed by three trespassers in the campus. The accused were later booked under sections 341, 323 and 354 of RPC. Before that, an outsider namely Riyaz Ahmed of DalpatianMohalla, Jammu assaulted a girl student in the campus.He was arrested later. |
