JK BJP leaders ditch people yet again, fail to get smart city status to capital cities of state | | | Jehangir Rashid
SRINAGAR, Sept 21: Leaders of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the state have once again failed and ditched the people since they failed to convince the people at helm in New Delhi in getting smart city status to any of the two capital cities of Jammu & Kashmir. Neither Jammu nor Srinagar has made it to the latest list of the smart cities announced by Union Minister for Urban Development, Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi on Tuesday. The non-inclusion of the two capital cities in the list of smart cities has led to disillusionment among the masses of state. People in general believe that the BJP leaders of Jammu & Kashmir have failed to project the case of the two capital cities and it was due to this reason that neither Jammu nor Srinagar could make it to the list of smart cities. Common masses opine that both Srinagar and Jammu have missed a great chance of making it to the list of smart cities in the country. Failure of the BJP leaders to get the smart city status for Jammu is all set to dent the chances of the party in the next parliamentary and the assembly elections in the state. While the Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in April-May 2019, the elections for the state assembly are likely to be held in October-November 2020. It would be in place to mention here that state BJP leaders had time and again claimed that both Srinagar and Jammu would be included in the list of smart cities in due course of time. These claims have remained claims since Jammu & Kashmir has missed the latest bus vis-à-vis inclusion of Jammu and Srinagar in the list of smart cities. Pertinently, when Jammu and Srinagar missed the list of smart cities in the first instance, the BJP leaders asked the people to be patient claiming that the needful would be done at the appropriate time. Although, the people of the state have been waiting, but the day is yet to come when either of both of the two capital cities would be included in the list of smart cities. Jammu had given an unprecedented mandate to BJP in the 2014 assembly elections and the people had hoped that the party would solve the problems of masses living in the winter capital and the other districts. However, up to this moment of time the people have been 'ditched' by BJP and there is no solution to the problems being faced by them. It is widely believed that if BJP fails to address the issues confronting the people of Jammu then the party would suffer immensely. In such a situation it can be easily said that BJP would lose at least 50 percent of its seats in Jammu region and would no longer be looked as an alternative to mainstream parties like Congress, National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party. The party is all set to lose ground and it would be difficult for it to stage a comeback. |
