Henchmen disappear as uneasy calm prevails in Kashmir | Geelani's son, others face heat | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 21: Police and other security agencies tightening their noose around separatists and their henchmen have created ripples in the separatist camp. Sources told Early Times during the past few weeks Police and other agencies have rounded up scores of people who were involved in orchestrating street protest across Kashmir. They said the separatists and their agents have been facing the heat as they are being questioned and their bank accounts are being scanned. "For thepast few days Police have been questioning Naeem Geelani son of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani," sources added. They said that investigating agencies believe that Naeem has been instrumental in issuing the protest calendars and is managing the show at present. "After the arrest of Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq last month, Naeem had taken the lead," said a source. He said Naeem Geelani, who is a government employee, is finding it hard to cope up with the situation and he is looking towards his friends within the government to help him. Insiders revealed the henchmen of separatists who were on forefront during the past two months have disappeared from the scene as many of them have been arrested and put behind the bars, while many have fled from Kashmir. Sources claimed that separatists who are spearheading the present agitation in Kashmir have conveyed to their masters sitting in Pakistan that they cannot pro-long the agitation anymore and it's time for them to activate militants so that nineties like situation in recreated. "Separatists are making a last ditch effort to bring people out of their homes so that a big massacre like nineties is repeated. Security forces are maintaining utmost restraint and are trying their best to ensure that no untoward incident takes place," said a source. He claimed that militants have intensified attacks on the security forces at the behest of Pakistan and separatists. "There is every apprehension about militant attacks gaining momentum in coming days as Pakistan wants to keep the pot boiling," the source added. He said, "India launching a counter offensive has taken Pakistan and separatists by a surprise and have sent them into tizzy. They were not accepting that India would take the bull by its horns and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would authorize the service chiefs to decide the future course of action," the source added. He said that "operation calm down" started by the Army in south Kashmir has started paying dividends and calm has returned in many volatile areas. "The big game started by the separatists at the behest of Pakistan is slowly coming to an end. It is giving sleepless nights to Pakistani agents and their bosses," the source said. |
