HC directs SVO IGP to file latest status of probe | Rs 27 cr scam in Housing Board | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 21: A high court division bench of first puisne judge, Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice B S Walia today directed the IGP of state vigilance organization to file the latest status of probe into the alleged Rs 27 cr scam in the shape of creation of liabilities in J&K Housing Board during the tenure of then housing minister and incharge managing director. The bench directed the registry to list this matter in the week commencing October 17 next. After hearing the counsels of the petitioner and SVO, the bench directed the filing of the latest status of the ongoing verification into the alleged scam by SVO. The petitioner's counsel submitted that he was seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against SVO IGP Alok Puri and then VOJ SSP Koushal Kumar for not finalizing the preliminary inquiry within 15 days as fixed by the Apex Court in case titled Lalita Kumari v/s State of UP and others wherein it has been ruled that a preliminary inquiry in a corruption case should not exceed 15 days. After hearing them, the bench directed the SVO IGP to file the latest status of the petitioner's complaint highlighting Rs 27 cr scam in J&K Housing Board during the tenure of then housing minister and incharge MD. |
