Goons of BJP MLA attack whistleblower scribe; Govt, party leadership mum | Double standards of saffron party | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 21: The double standards of BJP on corruption and patronage to the corrupt people have been completely exposed as on one side it demands CBI probe into the killing of Journalist in Bihar whereas the goons of the MLA of same party in Sunderbani (Rajouri) here attacked a whistleblower scribe but, the entire party leadership kept mum on the same. On September 19, at the behest of BJP MLA, his "henchmen" made a murderous attack on the whistleblower in Sunderbani area, only because this young man had been exposing the rot in the system in Jammu, much in line to uphold Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan of "Na Khaunga, Na Khanay Dunga." But as this whistleblower was about to open a can of worms over corruption and nepotism being promoted by BJP MLA and others in the party, he was beaten ruthlessly and threatened with life if he dared to raise voice against rampant corruption. Condemning the attack on scribe, Team Sunderbani members Rajinder Sharma, Amit Sharma, Yash Paul Khajuria, Ajay Uppal, Kulwant Singh and Jai Lal sympathized with the victim and urged the authorities to act against the MLA whose behest the attack was carried out. They alleged that ruling party has been pressurizing the police and civil administration to tamper the facts pertaining to attack on the poor man, who was religiously working in line with Modi's slogan of honesty. The state chapter of BJP wants this man of integrity, presently undergoing treatment in Government Medical College Hospital, to be booked in a criminal case so that no one in future dares to raise voice against corruption in the region, they said. They also alleged that some days ago, the father-in-law of PRO to MLA Ravinder Raina had offered bribe to this whistleblower for hiding facts about bungling of works executed under centrally sponsored schemes in rural areas of Jammu region. But that the whistleblower didn't tow line with the corrupt, and he was attacked. While the victim fears threat to life, the ruling BJP wants to muzzle his voice further. This is against the role, which BJP has adopted in opposition in Bihar. On May 14, 2016, BJP demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of (Rajeev Ranjan) journalist in Siwan and hinted about the alleged involvement of a jailed RJD strongman in the murder. "The needle of suspicion points to a jailed 'bahubali' (muscleman) in the murder of journalist Rajeev Ranjan. Since such a high profile person is suspected, its a known fact that Bihar police would not be able to do justice to the case. Hence the matter should be handed over to the CBI," senior Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi told media. He along with leader of opposition in Legislative Assembly Prem Kumar and state BJP chief Mangal Pandey visited the family of Ranjan, the district bureau chief of Hindi daily "Hindustan", who was shot dead at Station Road under Town police station on the previous night. But BJP's role in Jammu, the region which voted this party to power, is a different story. Here favoritism and nepotism, as per people, has crossed all limits whereas those who raise voice against injustice are either muzzled or threatened. The members of civil society Captain Naseeb Singh, Captain Sagar Singh, Captain Doulat Ram, Subedar Madan Lal, Khyail Ram, Capt. Rashid, Subedar Ram Lal, Subedar Kasturi, Subedar Chaman Lal and Subedar Paras Ram besides PDP City President Manoj Kumar and PDP Block President Youth Ankush Sharma also condemned the incident and demanded action against the MLA and his goondas. |
