| "Field of worship lost its purity" | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 2: Madhu Param Hans ji Maharaj, the spiritual head of Sahib Bandgi panth, while delivering sermons to his followers at Nagrota, Jammu, said that the field of worship had lost its purity. There are two kinds of worship to be found today. But we have to think as to where the particular mode of worship can take us.
If some goon appears in the neighbourhood, everyone there becomes alert. All think he will prove troublesome. If some wine shop is opened at some place, the people residing nearby begin to oppose. They think it can prove harmful in the time to come. If a fire breaks out at some place, the people in the neighbourhood feel its warmth. Likewise, if wrong elements penetrate in the field of worship, they will pollute the religious atmosphere & will cause problems for the people.
There are two kinds of worship to be seen. One is the Sagun whereas the other one is the Nirgun. Sagun is not bad. It has its own good points. It is like a nursery class. Our ancestors simplified the mode of worship for us. The construction of a bridge on the river Chenab has made it easy for the people to cross it. Prior to it, only the swimmers could cross it. But now everyone can cross it easily. Even the animals & reptiles can cross it.
Likewise, the Sagun form of worship is a simplified way of worshipping God. But after that there remains a strong need for seeking the shelter of a guru. This mode of worship involves idol worship, visit to holy places, doing acts of charity etc. There is nothing bad in it. To refrain from giving troubles to others or performing acts of cheating & forgery etc. have their own significance in the field of religion.
Man seems to be moving ahead aimlessly. He has no knowledge of the path that can take him to his real destination. In Satogun kind of worship, torturing or killing of Jivas has been prohibited. Such people perform acts related to the evil spirits. They please evil spirits to gain some miraculous powers. Such a kind of worship falls in the lower category.
They worship Kali Devi, Kamakhya devi & the like simply to gain material comforts. But the strange thing to note is that those performing other kinds of worship have also started doing all that the Tamogun worshippers have been doing without thinking as to what kind of a worship it is. All such things won't help man in attaining liberation. You will have to move in the right direction. You will be opposed but you will have to face the opposition smilingly & boldly. |
