| Staff shortage affects functioning of govt schools in Basohli zone | | | Vinod Sharma

Jammu, Oct 2: At a time when PDP-BJP coalition government is patting its back over rationalizing policy but most of the schools falling under Basohli Zone of district Kathua have been facing acute dearth of manpower as dozens of posts in various schools have been lying vacant since long.
Source in the department informed Early Times that under Zonal Education Office, Basohli, there were two Higher Secondary Schools- one is Model Higher Secondary School, Basohli and other is HSS, Bhoond besides 10 High Schools but ironically there was no Account assistant and no Senior Assistant in the Higher secondary schools.
In the ZEO office Basohli, one post of senior assistant , one post of account assistant and many others have not been fulfilled since long and the teachers have been doing the work.
"There are lot of burden on employees, working in ZEO office but the higher authority fails to take cognizance of matter to sort out man power crisis in ZEO office", sources said.
Further sources said that the data operator engaged in ZEO office Basohli was attached in Deputy Commissioner office Kathua, nearly two years back and the post was vacant for the last two years and nobody has joined so far on the post.
In all the higher secondary and high schools fall under Basohli zone, the posts of clerical staff have been falling vacant for the last many years. "In absence of clerical staff, the teachers have been engaged to run the show, virtually creating problems for the teachers and students, as their studies are being suffered", sources said.
Sources further said that already teachers were engaged to maintain the accounts of midday meal programme. The engagement of teachers in this scheme affect the class work and maintining accounts and other records is not an easy job and it consumed lot of time, which ultimately affect the class work.
A teacher said that however, there were huge shortage of man power in schools and government engaged him to maintain the business of mid day meal and other side to complete the account work for release of salaries, which was most unfortunate and government must send the clerical staff to all schools, across Basohli zone. |
