Rajouri awakes to war threat
Authorities identify 72 places to house migrants

Rajouri , Oct 2: The Rajouri district administration has identified 72 government temporary accommodations for the evacuation of the people in case of war or emergency in the wake of surgical strikes by the Indian army on the militant camps in POK.
Giving details about the preparedness, an official said that in Rajouri district fifteen thousand three hundred families consisting of 70964 souls have been identified whose exodus can take place in case of any misadventure by the Pakistan.
According to official details, 64 villages situated near Line of Control in Sunderbani, Nowshera , Rajouri, Ghambhir and BG sectors have been identified from where the evacuation of people is apprehended.
In Nowshera sub Division , SDM has identified 25 villages which are situated near the Line of Control (LoC) out of which 5 villages are situated very near to the LoC.
"In case of any emergency evacuation of people from these twenty five villages , school buildings, Community Halls and Gurudwaras have been identified for 25607 souls of 6674 familiies. BDOs, naib tehsildars,ZEOs, tehsil supply officers (TSOs), headmasters etc habe been assigned the jobs of Nodal Officers for their concerned Migrant camps" said SDM, Harbans Lal
"Government college & school buildings , community halls, old hospital building and new OPD complex at hospital etc have been identified as temporary accommodations for the border evacuees where a officer at every place will look after the welfare of the migrants" said Shabir Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner.
He added instructions have been issued to senior officers of the various departments including PHE, PDD, CA&PD, Health to make necessary arrangements for the welfare of the migrants.
PHE department has started laying pipes so that safe water supply can be assured at these temporary shelters.
Meanwhile Daily Wagers, ITI trained and CP workers of PHE department who are indefinite strike for the last more than 15 days have also extended their full co-operation in case of any emergency on the borders.
Since surgical strikes by the Indian army , the situation on the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district largely remained calm and no major truce violation has been reported from any part of the district.
People of border villages have already kept packed their house hold items, beddings, clothes, books etc but refused to move out till they receive directions from the administration.
"On Saturday , Deputy Chief Minister had visited many border villages in Sunderbani and Nowshera sub divisions and assured the people about every possible help from the government. He has been told to provide ration to individual families instead organizing community kitachens for the border evacuees" said Surjeet Singh, ex-serviceman resident of Lam village.
