Constitute Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Poonch scouts to guard LoC more effectively: Chuni | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 11: SOS International- an organization for PoK Displaced Persons today advocated constitution of 3 battalions viz Mirpur Scouts, Muzaffarabad Scouts and Poonch Scouts to guard LoC. Addressing a rally today, its chairman Rajiv Chuni said that presently, there is conflict between India and Pakistan and the said conflict can't bring to an end till ages. He said that to tackle with the ongoing scenario of terrorist activities in State and country, Government must constitute 3 battalions; Mirpur Scouts, Muzaffarabad Scouts and Poonch Scouts. "Youth from Mirpur in Mirpur Scouts, youth from Muzaffarabad in Muzaffarabad Scouts and youth from Poonch in Poonch Scouts be recruited in constituting these battalions. The logic behind demanding it is that these areas i.e. Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Poonch are the birth places of PoK refugees and they also know the topography, language and accent of these areas and they will prove quite productive in countering terrorism along this side of Line of Control (LoC)," said Rajiv Chuni. He said there will be two advantages of bringing this suggestion in practical; the first one is that terrorism or infiltration can be tackled to large extent and second is that the financial condition of PoK refugees' youth can be improved to some extent. In this way, PoK refugees will get the employment and their sufferings will be lessened, Chuni stated. Chuni also welcomed Central Government's decisions for passing Rs 2000 crore package for PoK refugees, besides he said that in no way the said package should be considered as one time settlement package, adding that the struggle of S. O. S. International will go on until complete justice is achieved. He further said that any amount or relief package can't match the sacrifices made by PoK refugees and no Government is able to compensate the sort of trauma faced by them for the last 7 decades. He further said that PoK refugees have been living without any status for the last 70 years. Government should make it clear that whether we are Internally Displaced Persons or refugees, adding India has no specific laws or organized policy for refugees. |
