Thathri, Dec 11: Though it is not enough to say that Chenab valley comprising of three districts including Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar , where locals are facing hardship due to non availability of Parking Zones for vehicles .
In district Doda , Thathri having status of Sub District and becoming epiccentre of passengers for travelling to Jammu , Srinagar, Doda, Kishtwar, Bhalessa, Bunjwah and other regions of state .
Thathri is a town which is ill facilitated by way of parking slots for vehicles. There was a time when countable number of vehicles used to ply and originate from Thathri to other cities of state. Due to increase, in the settlers from other adjoining areas in Thathri township and number of vehicles from Kishtwar, Bunjwah , Bhalessa , PremNagar , Doda and Bhaderwah and from its adjoining areas became headache as there is lack of Bus Stand and Parking Zone .
With the passage of time, Sub District Administration, Branch of State Bank of India and Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Block Development, Army COY, Police Station, Hospital, and many establishments of Government and private sectors came to existence within the Thathri town.
These developments brought the Thathri town under the traffic chaos as there is no parking zone. Due to increase in the number of customers, the shopping markets also came up in a huge number, in Thathri business market and the parking area shrunk to almost no space.
The main shopping market of Thathri starts from Forest Check Post ' encircling the whole town which at one corner leads towards Court complex and on other towards Cooperative Marketing. The customers visiting this market have no appropriate space for parking their vehicles. The strips earmarked for parking cater to compound the traffic chaos and people face trouble from police as it is bent upon to lift the vehicles and to pay the fine. The one way restrictions imposed is a necessity but it is hardly implemented, which is responsibility of both administration as well as people.
Not only in Thathri ,in Kishtwar there is no proper parking zones ,as at some places Municipal Committe and District Police have pasted various boards of Parking zones but due to negligence of transporters , drivers and traffic authorities these boards are only advertisement . Near Dak Bungalow and Shaheedi Chowk parking zones were established as in Mini Bus stand region locals faces hardship due to heavy traffic rush as road is having few metres width . Besides the Bus Stand Kishtwar remains in bad condition due to which drivers park their vehicle on one side of road creating traffic jams in Township.
Pertinent to mention that Municipal Committee is collecting Aada Fees from drivers and transporters without any proper maintenance of parking zone . |
