JKNPP protests contemptuous mockery of West Pak refugees | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 24: Strongly condemning the surrender of coalition govt. over the issue of Domicile Certificates to the West Pakistan Refugees, a brigade of Panthers spearheaded by Mr. Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and Former Minister along with other leaders staged a massive demonstration against the coalition government seeking State Subject rights for the WPRs at Exhibition Ground Jammu today. The infuriated protestors amid raising anti-government slogans and burnt the effigy of the BJP for succumbing to the dictates of secessionist forces of Kashmir. While addressing the media, Harsh Dev Singh regretted that ironically the people who voluntarily fled to Pakistan from the state in 1947 had been granted citizen rights there but the refugees of West Pakistan who had taken the shelter in J&K and chose India as against Pakistan have been left in lurch for the last about 70 years. He said that the plight and miseries of the refugees are clearly visible as they have not been granted PRCs, employment and other benefits at par with the other citizens of the state despite more than six decade stay in the state. Accusing the unholy alliance for making contemptuous mockery of WPRs, he revealed that nearly 1.5 lakh refugees mainly Hindus and Sikhs with majority of them being SCs were once again ignored and treated like mere expendables who otherwise expected justice from the BJP partnered coalition government in terms of State Subject rights along with financial package as promised to them ahead of Lok Sabha elections. Lambasting the BJP-PDP combine for taking U-turn following the voices of opposition from the Kashmiri separatists over the issue, Harsh Dev Singh divulged that the State government's obnoxious clarification to substitute Domicile Certificates by Identity Certificates for WPRs had raised eyebrows over the scornful silence of the BJP. He said that it was quite evident that the secessionists were ruling the roost as they had once again held the dispensation by collar and made it to kneel down before their blackmailing dictates. |
