Delhi not interested in talking to separatists | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 24: The BJP led NDA government not taking separatists seriously has put the so-called united Hurriyat in a tight spot as no one seems interested in talking to them. Sources told Early Times the track-II team led by the former union minister Yashwant Sinha which visited Kashmir twice and met the separatists has been told in clear terms that talks with separatists have to be held within the ambit of the Indian constitution and the people who preach secessionism and sedition. Insiders revealed that Centre's policy vis-à-vis Kashmir is clear that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and no talks can be held with the people who act as spokesman of Pakistan. A Kashmir watcher said, "Separatists who during the recent unrest were claiming that Kashmir is close to so-called Azadi have been left red faced. They have got nothing to sell. They (separatists) through different channels are getting it conveyed to New Delhi that they are ready to hold talks and a process should be started to engage them as a face saving measure." He said, "People at the helm of affairs have realized that separatists have lost the ground and they stand exposed before the people whom they took for a ride for five months by issuing the so-called calendar for the Right to Self Determination (RSD). Now they want to hold talks to prove that five months long shutdown has led to Delhi recognizing them and so-called Kashmir problem." An analyst said, "Since the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken over the reins of the country he has made it clear that no power on earth can snatch Jammu and Kashmir from India and there would be no compromise on the country's sovereignty. Now separatists either have to fall in line or face the music. There is no possibility about New Delhi entering into parleys with the so-called united Hurriyat." Sources said, "Due to demonetization separatists are facing severe financial crunch as their bosses are finding it difficult to fill their coffers. A few second rung separatists are trying to come close to Delhi and are ready to offer them their services but Delhi has not responded to their offer. People at the helm believe that these people cannot be trusted and can indulge in a double cross." They said, "Delhi holding talks with separatists looks difficult till separatists acknowledge the constitution. |
