People block Jammu-Pathankot Highway against mysterious death of woman | | | Early Times Report
Vijaypur Dec 24: Alleging foul play in the death of a married woman who was found dead near Railway track at Raya Morh in Vijaypur of Samba District, under mysterious circumstances, family members and locals staged protest by laying body of deceased on road and disrupted traffic on national highway at Raya Morh for nearly one hour. Alleging a foul play in the death, the protestors were demanding registration of a case against her husband and the in-laws. The woman identified as Ashu Devi wife of Lakhwinder Singh, resident of Bagoona village was married some two years ago. According to the in-laws of deceased Ashu committed suicide by jumping before the train here today on the other hands the parents of the deceased alleged that she was being murdered by her husband and his family members. The victim's father Haqiqat Singh alleged that Ashu's husband and her in-laws often beat her and a case in this connection already stands registered in Woman Cell Police Station at Jammu. He said, "They (in-laws of his daughter) killed her and we demand immediate arrest of Ashu's husband and her in-laws." Family members along with local staged protest demanding registration of murder case against husband of the deceased and others, and blocked the National highway for hours together. The protesting people could be pacified only after police officials reached to the spot and assured necessary action. After getting the assurance of proper investigation in the case, the family members lifted the blockade. Meanwhile police spokesperson said that the case is being investigated by Railway Police and investigations will initiated after the post-mortem report is received. |
