JU's CWS organizes 3rd Gender Sensitization Workshop | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 28: Under the Gender Sensitization Workshop Series, the Centre for Women Studies (CWS) University of Jammu organized a third workshop for the PG students of the Department of Psychology and Home Science, University of Jammu. Dr Sadhana Natu, eminent Academician, Researcher, Activist, Feminist Psychotherapist, Head Department of Psychology, Modern College, Pune was the resource person. The workshop began with the welcome address by Prof Vishav Raksha, Director, Centre for Women Studies, who after welcoming all the participants introduced the Resource person to them and also apprised all the participants with the objective of conducting such a workshop. Dr Sadhana Natu the key speaker for the workshop spoke about the concept of gender and intersectionality. She discussed the concept of Masculinity and illustrated with many examples. Prof Arti Bakhshi, Head Department of Psychology in her address highlighted the need for gender sensitization and also appreciated the efforts of the Centre for conducting workshops on such a relevant contemporary issue. She also stressed upon opening of Gender Sensitization Cells and Online portal in the campus to take up these issues. Prof Samridhi Arora, Head Department of Home Science spoke about the gender differences prevalent in society and appreciated the efforts of the Centre to conduct such types of workshops for the students and scholars of the University. The workshop was attended by a large number of participants comprising of students and the Faculty of Psychology and Home Science department and from within and outside the University. The participants raised many queries on issues like stereotypical roles, Violence, Gender equality etc. The workshop was conducted by Dr Saranjit Kaur, faculty Centre for Women Studies and she also presented the formal vote of thanks. |
