SRINAGAR, Oct 3: The ban row resonated in the legislative assembly today as Langate MLA, Er Abdul Rashid walked out of the House after the issue was not taken up for discussion.
As soon as the autumn session of the assembly began this morning with Speaker Kavinder Gupta reading the obituary reference, Rashid stood up and raised voice against the ban imposed on sale of beef in Jammu & Kashmir.
“Jammu & Kashmir is a Muslim majority state and as such the ban on sale of beef should be revoked at the earliest,” he said while carrying a banner in support of his demand.

Omar did not utter a single word so as to pay tributes to former President Avul Pakir Jainulabideen (APJ) Abdul Kalam and some other ministers as well as legislators of state who passed away during the period the legislature was not in session. Nearly eight months ago, the government had issued three orders instructing all departments to voluntarily disclose the information in terms of Section 4 (1) (b) of J&K Right to Information Act 2009.
