Jammu, Apr 27: In a brazen act of favoritism and nepotism adopted by the previous National Conference-Congress government in terms of appointment of blue eyed persons on plum postings, a Matric pass junior inspector in Excise Department is holding the post of Excise Taxation Officer (ETO) Srinagar for the past two years, while high qualified and senior inspectors of the department including RBA certificate holders were denied the posting by the previous government. Despite the change in guard in the state the blue-eyed officer still continues to hold the post.

Jammu, Apr 27: Government's indifference towards education sector could be well gauged from the fact that seven school buildings are awaiting completion due to non-release of funds by the state government.
As per sources, for the completion of Higher Secondary School Malanoo under state plan with an estimated cost of Rs. 54.16 lacs, the Jammu and Kashmir government has released only Rs 28 lacs. With the money released, building has been raised and roofed but the finishing work is still in progress.

MENDHAR, Apr 27: A controversy has erupted in the town here over the auctioning of Adda Tax collection contract by the Mendhar panchayat secretary and the Poonch ACD holding the whole activity as "null and void". The contract was to expire on May 5 next but Mendhar panchayat secretary Sohrab Ahmad Khan put it to auction on April 21 last. MENDHAR, Apr 27: Mohammad Junaid (28) of Uttar Pradesh (UP), who was apprehended by army from the border Balnoi area of Poonch Friday last, is said to have gone "missing" under mysterious circumstances with both police and army claiming that "he is not with them".
Junaid, a resident of Shapur in Varanasi, UP, was held by army at about 5.30 am on Fridaylast while was clandestinely moving towards the LoC in Roshni Nullah of Balnoi. He was brought by army to the Mendhar police station Friday evening, according to official sources.
