Srinagar, Aug 12: Unfruitful expenditure of more than half a crore rupees was incurred upon the purchase of BMW incinerators for the two major hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir that too without the approval of the state pollution control board, hence reflecting non- serious approach of the authorities in equipping the health centres with proper infrastructure.
The documents in possession of the Early Times reveal that as per the guidelines issued by the central pollution checking board, the installation of the bio-medical waste incinerator should be allowed only after the approval of the concerned state pollution control board.
However, throwing rules to the wind, authorities at the two major hospitals of the state without the approval of the state pollution control board, finalised the contract for supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 50Kg/ hour capacity incinerators at two hospitals in JK.

JAMMU, Aug 12: The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh announcing in Rajya Sabha that Kashmir won't be handed over to Army after the Amarnath Yatra concludes on August 17 has emboldened the separatists and they are planning to pro-long the ongoing agitation.
Sources told Early Times the fear of Kashmir being handed over to Army had kept the separatists on tenterhooks and they had stopped calling for chalos. Soon after the Union Home Minister ruled out any such possibility the separatists issued yet another calendar pro-longing the shutdown till August 18 and asking people to march towards Lal Chowk on August 13 and 14.

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: The state government on Friday warned its employees of "dire consequences" if they take part in the valley protests.
In a stern directive, one of the cabinet ministers on Friday preferring anonymity informed Early Times that the government has written to all heads of the departments to take action against such employees who are involved in stone pelting or hurriyat protests.

Srinagar, Aug 12: A police constable and a civilian were killed on the spot this evening when suspected militants opened fire in Chandsar, Tawalgam area of district Kulgam in south Kashmir, police and reports said.
Reports said two bike-borne militants appeared at main square in the Chandsar area at around 9:30 PM -killing constable Manzoor Ahmed and civilian Farooq Ahmed on the spot.
The other two wounded in the incident were rushed to Srinagar for specialized treatment when this report was being filed.
