Rana selling dreams to hoodwink people | More loyal than the King | | Early Times Report
Nagrota, Nov 6: The senior National Conference leader Devender Singh Rana and party's candidate for Nagrota constituency seems to be day dreaming about NC's future. His claim the past six years have witnessed new phase of development and state has come out of uncertainty is a big hoax aimed at hoodwinking people. While addressing gathering here, Rana called upon the electorate to give a massive mandate to National Conference for continuing what he called the "march of peace, progress and development." Someone needs to ask him to define peace, progress and development. During the past six years nothing has been done for the progress and development. Roads across the state are in shambles, poor people have to run from pillar to post to even get the drinking water and the power tariff has increased manifolds from 2008 to 2014. As far peace and prosperity is concerned separatists call the shots in the Valley and stone pelting and hartals are a routine. So what peace he is talking about he (Rana) only knows? Irony is that he is seeking decisive mandate for the National Conference while the fact is that party has lost its ground due to its anti-people policies both in Jammu and Kashmir regions. "A government with decisive mandate alone can meet the challenges confronted to sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir," he said. Just six months ago he was seeking mandate for the coalition candidate Ghulam Nabi Azad for the Parliamentary elections and used to praise Congress. However, people didn't listen to him and voted for the BJP candidate leaving NC leaders and stalwarts high and dry. Rana's prediction that NC-Cong coalition would last forever proved to be a mere illusion. Left alone in the midst NC candidates, including Rana, are demanding decisive mandate. What a joke! Now to lure the people he has coined a slogan that Nagrota would be turned into Nava Jammu on the lines of Navi Mumbai. It's just a rhetoric aimed at taking masses for a ride. However, people have understood the gimmicks of NC and its leaders and are waiting for the polling day to teach them a lesson. Rana leaves no opportunity to please his boss (Omar Abdullah) in every speech he praises him and calims how great the "King" is. "Chief Minister Omar Abdullah braved numerous odds and compulsions on the political front over the years but never dithered in its responsibility of giving the people a responsive administration." This time around praising Omar Abdullah is not going to help Rana's cause as Omar won't be in a position to appoint him as his advisor with a special status as NC is set to face the worst defeat in the history. |
