Jammu, Mar 7: One deputation of J&K Kissan Council head by Rajesh Sharma (Bittu), Chairman Kissan Council met Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Shantmanu today to discuss various issues and problems faced by farmer community of Jammu region. According to press release, while briefing Shantmanu, the Kissan Council deputation lead by Rajesh Sharma said that losses and damages caused by untimely harsh rains have given considerable losses to farmer community and compensation of the same for both previous and current year is to be made judiciously without any delay. The deputation called for better coordination and amicable disposal of farmer compensation. The deputation also discussed issues related with soil erosion, cleaning and de-silting of rivers and also highlighted problems related to excess power tariffs to famers by PDD department. The main problems faced by border farmer community is related with land under army occupation and continuous firing from across the border has given rise to many day to day problems which marginal farmers at border has to face. The deputation called for smooth and transparent compensation procedure to be followed in future. The Divisional Commissioner gave patient hearing to the problems highlighted by deputation of Kissan council and said that detailed meeting will be held soon with participation of concerned government official with members of farmers orgs to discuss in detail the current issues in hand and to devise effective coordination among farmers and government offices in near future. The deputation was led by Rajesh Sharma (chairman), Ch. Hansraj, Raghunandan Khajuria (sarpanch), Diwan Khajuria (Sarpanch) Suresh kumar, Ch. Munshi Ram, Satpaul, Dinesh Chand Sharma and Vikrant Dogra. |
