S.Tahir-Ul Haq Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Scores of far flung villages in Uri town of Baramulla district are without basic facilities. According to reports, many developmental projects have been delayed in past due to inadequate funds and proper consideration and other issues, which added difficulties and miseries to our lives and somewhere created conflicts in various cross sections of society. A local resident of Chotali Mohammad Altaf told early times that, "there are scores of hilly villages like Bannali, Chotali, Maiyan, Navrounda. Gawlta, Kamalkote, Silikote, Nambla, Charounda, Isham and other adjoining areas which are without basic facilities. These far flung areas of Border town Uri lacks well established health care, twenty four hours transport facility like other areas in the district and there is also a poor BSNL connectivity, Said Altaf. Due to poor mobile service now we use Airtel Bharti and cannot think of other facilities. It shows itself the gravity of our problems, our areas were ignored in all fronts, Altaf added. Now people have high expectations from the Mufti led government with respect to developments of these border areas, that is why they voted for PDP this time, they want a complete change in the system. Another local resident of Kamalkote Uri Abdul Rashid Khan told early times that, the present coalition government led by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayed is determined to provide all basic facilities to the people of all the three regions preferably people living in far off and remote areas of the state. Khan opines that present government should give first priority to upgrade the social infrastructure like roads, electricity, water facility and other facilities in every nook and corner of the state for which scores of projects are still under execution. However a group of youth told, "We sacrificed lot in past due to callous approach of National conference and congress government, but this time we want all-round development of rural and hilly areas from present government and newly state and center based schemes should be introduced here, so that we can avail benefit of them. Almost all the remote and hilly areas of Uri town are lacking basic facilities of education, health care, drinking water, road connectivity and unscheduled power cuts, they complained. Meanwhile these young brigades of youth have appealed the present government that concrete initiatives must be taken at the earliest for improvement and up gradation of basic facilities in those areas which are lacking these facilities. |
