Mufti's healing touch commences with release of Masarat Alam | 2010 Uprising Mastermind served 6 consecutive PSAs | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 7: As part of its policy to releases separatist leaders booked under different cases across the country, People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition Government after releasing 2010 uprising mastermind, Masrat Alam officially began its policy to release separatist leaders of Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources noted separatist leader of Separatist Group (G) and chairman of Muslim League, Masrat Alam Bhat was released after four and a half years of Jail today afternoon after Deputy Commissioner Jammu issued his release orders from Kupwara under a case registered in a Jammu police station. Masrat was in jail since October 18, 2010 after he allegedly led the 2010 uprising by issuing protest calendars in Kashmir division and he was booked under PSA's 6 times since his arrest in 2010. Masarat Alam allegedly a key figure in organizing 2010 uprising in Kashmir was released last year from jail after four years, yet just after reaching home he was arrested again and was lodged in Shaheed Gunj Police station in Srinagar as Reportedly according to one government order as many as 15 criminal cases stand registered against Masrat Alam in various police stations allegedly for indulging in different violence related activities. Pertinently a day after the chief minister, Mufti Mohammad Syed in last week directed the Police to release all separatist leaders with no criminal background; the Separarist group (G) termed the statement as "ridiculous." According to details there area around 500 people of Jammu and Kashmir booked under different cases in various jails across the country and despite demands of families of Separatists to release their wards to previous coalition government of National Conference and Congress which was led by Omar Abdullah, none among noted figures like Masrta Alam was released from any Jail of the country. Sources said that Police department has been asked to re-look the cases of Separatist leaders booked under different cases and began releasing all such separatist leaders who have less charges of Criminal activities pending against them. |
