Mufti plans to win over the people | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 7: While the moderates among the separatists are keenly awaiting formal invitation from the Government of India for talks, hardliners in the separatist camp continue to watch the political developments in Jammu and Kahsmir with interest because they are believed to be highly pessimistic about the outcome of the process of dialogue even if it takes place. People close to Chief Minister said that the Mufti has conveyed the desirability of engaging the separatists in a dialogue. The PDP, according to reports, believes that once people realize the difference between bad governance of Omar led coalition and good governance of PDP led coalition, they will stop responding to calls of separatists. Mufti, it has been learnt has sought additional funds to start developmental activities in the state to put his message across. He has shown interest in setting up major, mini and micro power plants for resolving the energy crisis. During the last 25 years the overall investment in the industry sector has remained much less than what had been witnessed in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana. Even investment from big business houses in India in the sector of Industry in Jammu and Kashmir has remained insignificant compared to other states. Reports said that meager investment in the sector of industry has been the result of fluid security and political situation. And Mufti is confident that he would be able to promote stable political and security atmosphere that should attract investors to set up unit in Jammu and Kahsmir which too could resolve the problem of unemployment. During the time Mufti Sayeed headed the coalition Government between 2002 and 2005 he had succeeded in motivating the central Government for reserving a special quota in the Armed Forces and the paramilitary forces for the unemployed youth from Jammu and Kahsmir. And during those three years more than 7,000 educated youth had found jobs in the Armed forces. He plans to repeat his plea with the BJP led NDA Government so that several thousand educated unemployed youth found jobs in the Armed forces and in the paramilitary forces. In addition to this the Chief Minister is toying with the idea of securing sanction for raising four to six additional police battalions in Jammu and Kashmir. |
