Remove encroachments on grazing land : HC to Govt | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 7 : The state High Court has directed authorities to remove the encroachments from Kahcharai (grazing land) without any fear, favor or influence. Dismissing a plea challenging an order by Tehsildar (executive magistrate) regarding cutting down of trees on Kahcharai land at Nadir Gund in Srinagar district, a single bench of Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey directed authorities to follow mandate of the supreme court. "At the very outset I place on record my reservation about maintainability of the petition in hand as the petitioners plead the non-compliance of the directions of the court passed in the write petition that was disposed of," reads an order by the court. In their plea, the petitioners had pleaded that the magistrate has acted in total disregard of the High Court directions by cutting down trees on the spot. They had also sought directions to appoint a panel to probe as how the concerned Tehsildar ordered to cut down the trees on the land under (Khasra nos 358, 361 & 362) at Nadur gund. "The court (had ordered) that the respondents to remove encroachments from the kahcharai land," Justice Magrey said and directed the deputy commissioner Srinagar not to allow any construction on the kahcharai land and retrieve it for public purposes. |
