Volleyball camp for boys, girls begins

JAMMU, May 11: To prepare competitive sides for the upcoming 23rd Mini National (under-14 boys and girls)Championships, the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir today started the 15-day long coaching camp for the selected probable, out of the three-day trials held recently, at MA Stadium, here.
The selected teams shall represent J&K in the upcoming championship to be held at Erode in Tamil Nadu from May 26 to May 31. Earlier, around 76 young boys and girls drawn from affiliated district units and clubs turned up for selection trials. Out of the trials, 14 each boys and girls were picked up for the coaching camp. Probable: Boys: Mutahir Shabir of Distt. Shopian; Imtyaz Javed, Murtaza Ahmed, Zahid Hussain of Distt. Poonch; Syed Amar Safder of Distt. Kulgam; Rajjat Sharma, Raghunandan, Sourav Sharma of Distt. Kathua; Danish Rashid of Distt. Ramban; Gurmeet Kumar, Rohit Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Mohan Singh, Duyansh Baryal of Distt. Jammu. Girls: Rafia Kousar, Sanam Shabir, Nabila Ayas Kousar of Distt. Poonch; Simranjit Kour, Sushriya, Shazia Qureshi of Distt. Jammu; Kumari Ambika, Renuka Bhagat, Sonali Bhau, Anjali Sharma, Priyanka Sharma, Rohini Rajan, Mitali Sharma, Riffat Sadotra of Distt. Samba. The selection took place under the guidance of selection committee comprising Sudershan Gupta, Hardeep Singh Gill, RC Sharma, Sujjad Hussain, Onkar Singh Gill and Akbar Ali. The selection process was carried out as per VFI norms under overall supervision of chief executive officer of the Association, Kuldip Magotra. The coaching camp is being sponsored by J&K State Sports Council. Meanwhile, general secretary, Volleyball Association of J&K, Vijay Kumar Magotra expected that the present team would also come up to our expectation in boasting J&K State name in Volleyball field. It will not be out of place to mention here that J&K has earned distinction in achieving silver and bronze medals in earlier championship in the Mini level in the boys section.
