BJP influential ministers lobbying for candidates' nomination for various boards, commissions | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 11: Hectic lobbying is going on in Bhartiya Janta Party to field candidate for the post of vice chairmanship of Scheduled Caste Welfare Advisory Board where it is being alleged that senior ministers are taking keen interest to project their own members. In this regard an influential central minister of BJP from state is pressing hard for the name of Bharat Bhushan of Raipur-Domana- the tainted MLA who was shown doors by the BJP high command in cross voting fiasco and was dubbed by the then state president Shamsher Singh as the most corrupt person. As per the state coalition's arrangement, both BJP and PDP have to arrive at a consensus to divide share of different boards and commissions in the government. BJP seems to be at losing end as only Kisan Welfare Board has been given to the party where Daljeet Singh has been nominated as its vice chairman while PDP has so far taken lion's share in accommodating Human Rights Commission, state accountability commission as well as Wakf Welfare Board where it has nominated its own members. However, since both the parties have to nominate their members for these boards and commissions, Scheduled Caste Welfare Advisory Board nomination in BJP is witnessing great fight within the cadre. "The state cadre is aghast over the minister's recommendation of the person who was thrown out of the party. If he has to be considered, why not the old stalwart Chaman Lal Gupta who is the strong face of Jammu," said one of the senior BJP leader wising not to be named. He said that party cadre wants that those elder workers and activists of the party who have given their life to nurture BJP should be considered rather than the tainted MLAs. The government in coalition has to elect vice chairmen for various boards and commissions existing in the state that include Gujjar Bakerawal welfare advisory board, pahari welfare advisory board, State Advisory Board for Welfare & Development of OBCs, state Backward Classes Commission, J&K State Commission for Women, J&K State Advisory Board for pahari speaking people, J&K State Information Commission/State Vigilance Commission etc. Chief Minister has to submit the names to the law department where after general administration department releases the list of the names of the candidates for various heads. "Already the government has delayed the process and BJP has embarked upon the fight of supremacy to nominate candidates of their ministers' choice ," said the BJP leader. |
