13 years on, health officer blames state for his father's killing | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Jammu, May 11: Thirteen years after his father was killed by unidentified gunmen, a top health officer of South Kashmir has accused the state for his killing. Dr Majid Mirab, who was recently posted as medical superintend of district hospital Anantnag allegedly on political considerations took to a social networking site to observe his father's 12th death anniversary saying that his father was a victim of 'state terrorism'. "An ill fated day, the 9 May 2003 when my father became the victim of state terrorism and was killed on way from a local mosque. The painful episode is unbearable, I and my family are bearing it with pain," the officer wrote on Facebook on Saturday. Many Facebook users commenting on the post of the officer expressed sympathy with him and prayed for the eternal peace to the slain. When contacted the health official told Early Times said he stands by his post. "Naturally I stand by the post which I have written on Facebook," he said. "FIR was registered at that time but we didn't fallow the case," officer added. Gull Mohammad Mirab, father of the health officer who was having fruit business in Bijbehara was considered to be a close of lieutenant of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed. Highly placed sources said that it because of his slain father, that that health officer is enjoying postings of his choice. "Dr Majid Mirab has always remained favorite of PDP leadership which is the reason that he enjoying postings of his choice," a doctor whishing not to be named said. He said that many doctors senior to him have raised eye brows over his recent posting. "He is not yet a confirmed medical superintend but due to the political patronage he is enjoying, he was picked up from maternity and Child care hospital and was posted as medical superintendent of district hospital," he. Pertinently, when the health officer's father was gunned down in Bijbehara, Mufti Mohammad Sayed was heading the Congress-PDP collation government in the state. Locals said that PDP leadership including Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed visited officer's residence to console him. |
