Big win for J&K as MP, DNH reach semis | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 11: Hosts Jammu and Kashmir today made it an absolute 6-0 win against Vidarbha in their second group match while Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Dadra and Nagar Haveli emerged topper of group-B and group-A to find berth in the knockout stages of semifinals in the ongoing Vth Sub-Junior National Hockey (Division-B) Championship at K K Hakhu Stadium, here. Earlier, in their second league round match of group-D, sailing on superb performance from Randeep Singh, J&K made it a fine 6-0 win against Vidarbha. Randeep scored four off the six goals striking in the eighth, 21st, 50th and 53rd minute. Navjot Singh and Vishal Sudan were other goal scorers from J&K who sounded the board in the 22nd and 61st minute of the match. Now, in next league tie, scheduled for tomorrow, J&K shall take on Bihar. In fourth and final league engagement, J&K shall be playing against Chandigarh on May 13. Earlier, in their opening match, J&K lost to Himachal Pradesh. In the meantime, Madhya Pradesh and Dadar and Nagar Haveli have qualified for the next knockout stages of semifinals winning all their league matches played so far. However, the league round shall continue for two more days before the semifinals are held on May 14. |
