Boys Inter-Zonal competitions get underway at Reasi

Reasi, May 11:The Inter Zonal competitions in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and wrestling for boys Under-14 and Under-17 years got underway here at kambaldanga, Reasi today. The competitions were declared open by District Treasury Officer Reasi-Mahesh Sharma in a simple but impressive function. District Social Welfare Officer-Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, Sarpanch Mari-Maheshwar Singh, ZPEO-Om Prakash, panches and a large number of the locals were also present on the occasion. Earlier, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi- Dr S S Chib presented a detailed report of the tournament. He said that 388 students drawn from 22 different institutions are participating in this tournament.
In his brief address, Mahesh Sharma conveyed his best wishes to all the participating teams and advised them to play the game in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Jaral while addressing the participants said, games not only entertain but also build character of an individual and keep a person physically fit.
A pledge ceremony was held wherein participating players took oath to observe true spirit of sportsmanship and discipline.
Meanwhile, in Kho-Kho Under-17 boys HS Nomain defeated Trikuta Shiksha Niketan Reasi, HS Aghar Jitto defeated HSS Katra and HSS Panthal defeated HSS Reasi.
In Kabaddi Under-17 boys, Trikuta Shiksha Niketan Reasi drubbed HS Kambak Danga, HSS Katra beat Lawrence Public School Reasi, HS Kanjali defeated HS Aghar Jitto and HSS Reasi beat HS Sirla Bhaga. .
In Volleyball Under-17 boys, Trikuta Siksha Niketan Reasi defeated Lawrence Public School Reasi, HS Sirla Bhaga defeated HS Dhanori and HS kanjali defeated HS Kotli Bhagga.
The matches wer e officiated by Ashok Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Pardeep Nag, Anil Singh and Ajay Kumar Billa.
