Jammu, May 11: Viraj Kala Kandra today organized a three days artists camp here at Viraj Art Gallery, Gandhi Nagar to commemorate the twenty years of establishment. According to press release, on this occasion a function was held where N D Jamwal, a well known senior artist and writer was the Chief Guest and Amrik Singh Namdhari, a senior and well known sculptor of the state was the Guest of honour. Eleven young artists of Jammu participated in this camp. The works created in the camp give a look of diverse tendencies of creation and expression. Generally the works have been executed in acrylics but the content matter and the innovations in technique and expression vary from one to another artist. The works of Shakti and Sahil Ohri depict abstract elements in landscape visuals with subdued tones and hues. The works of Amrit Kaur and Anuradha are concerned with human element association with nature and female figure or its existence gives a touch of femininity to the aesthetic beauty of their paintings. Prominent among others who were present on this occasion in cluded- painter Milam, theatrist Susham Sharma, senior artist Jang S. vermin, O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA, well known sculptor Bisamber Mehta and painter Jatinder Kaur. |
