Lal Singh left red-faced after reprimand from Ram Madhav | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: BJP's central leadership is not happy with the working of J&K Health Minister Chowdhary Lal Singh and has asked him to show more understanding of his ministry. According to sources, the BJP national secretary Ram Madhav was not impressed with the working of Lal Singh when he presented the report card of his 100-day of the government. "Don't bring about what you have done with the central government schemes. Show me what is your contribution to the Health department. Suspension of doctors is meaningless. It alone doesn't give health benefits to poor people," Madhav told Lal Singh, said the sources. They said the central high command has taken serious view of the harsh treatment being meted out to doctors by Lal Singh. The party has also not taken lightly the issue of a lady doctor who was reprimanded by the minister for not wearing apron. The lady doctor had argued that as per rules of her department, she is not supposed to wear it. Lal Singh was also directed to study the central government schemes on Health especially that of the generic drugs. "The J&K Health department has not taken any step to ensure that only generic drugs are prescribed. Rajasthan and other states have done a commendable job. Why is the Health department lacking? What steps have been taken by the department to stop the nexus of pharma companies and doctors, who are still prescribing costly drugs," Madhav has told Lal Singh, said the sources. Sources said it left Lal Singh red-faced, as he was knew to this culture of accountability. "Lal Singh still carries culture of the Congress where personal relations with the higher authorities and proximity to the 10 Janpath matters, but here the things are different and this is coming as shock to him," said the sources. |
